About This Spot

Tucked away in a modest strip along Old Dairy Road, Canton Asian Bistro offers an unpretentious haven for those craving a quiet meal away from the usual Juneau bustle. The first step inside greets you with a calm, mellow atmosphere where soft conversation and the occasional clink of chopsticks create a gentle rhythm, making it easy to slow down and settle in. Its windows frame distant mountain views, adding a subtle reminder of Alaska’s vastness to the experience.

The space carries a straightforward, no-frills vibe—clean, organized, and quietly attentive. It’s the kind of place where servers know their regulars and new visitors alike, offering thoughtful, unobtrusive care that feels genuine rather than rehearsed. Though the interior isn’t elaborate, the comfort lies in its simplicity, setting the perfect backdrop for a meal that encourages savoring each bite rather than rushing through.

Here, the menu unfolds as a tapestry of familiar yet thoughtfully prepared dishes that bridge Chinese and Japanese influences. Whether it’s the careful balance of flavors in a freshly rolled sushi creation or the warm, hearty embrace of a classic stir-fry, the flavors invite you to pause and appreciate the craft behind each plate. The generous portions speak to a welcoming spirit, making it a spot where hunger is met with both satisfaction and warmth.

While not a place for extravagant dining, Canton Asian Bistro resonates with those who appreciate a relaxed, midweek retreat or a quiet meal shared with friends. It’s a space where moments feel a little more personal, where you can enjoy good food at a measured pace, accompanied by mountain views just outside the window—a subtle but meaningful connection to place and pause.

We’ve all had disappointing tuna rolls that are mostly stuffed rice …largest portion of tuna in the roll I have ever seen. This was the best general tsos chicken ever. The portion size is huge. Excellent service …what a treat on last day of Alaska trip !

My order of fried rice was pretty burnt, and the food was super pricy, but I'm an out of towner so I don't have a strong frame of reference, I know things can be even pricier from shipping down here. I'm a sucker for atmosphere though, and I'd say the place provided. It's decently quiet, maybe three other groups there with a very nice view of the mountains, I got to listen to three Christian discuss paganism amongst eachother, and the wait staff felt like they were just normal people working normal jobs. It's a positive impression from myself.

Service was great, my server Alice was great. Food was good, the Hot and Sour soup is not the traditional hot and sour soup but it was ok. Dinner combinations have a good amount of food to fill you up. Atmosphere was kinda basic but quiet. Location is in a small building shared with other businesses.

Food was ok but not great. Sweet and sour chicken (and pork) was just breaded with red sauce poured over the top of it. Hot & sour soup was tasty but served warm. The fried shrimp on two of our orders was overcooked. Service was good, attentive waitress (but we were the only 4 in the restaurant for a late lunch). Overpriced meals even for Juneau.

Pretty nice place to eat. I have been here before last year during my last day. Ate here for dinner and it isn't that bad. Price can be pricey but it's worth it. Great service and quick.
